vs. Batesville Lumbermen: May 5, 2019
The WRBBC banged out 32 hits but stranded 20 runners on base (including leaving the bases loaded in the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 8th innings) in a 20-12 loss to Batesville Sunday. It was a full 9-inning, 1886 overhand rules affair completed in less than 2 1/2 hours on a perfect spring day. Batesville jumped out to a 7-0 lead on solid hitting early, but WR gnawed away steadily, closing the gap to 12-11 entering the 9th. The infamous "WR Inning" reared its head though as Batesville plated 8 (with maybe the first one or two being the only earned runs of the frame) and sealed the victory. WR was lead in hitting by Moose (3-for-3) with Digger, Sarge, Big Wheel, Governor and Sparrowhawk each going 4-for-6. Scooter efficiently pitched the distance for the men in wool.
